Every choice you make has the power to change your fate. This is the beauty of poker, it teaches you life more than any other game does. For people who think that they are weak in maths, they can take poker as a game to enhance their mathematical skills. For those who are already strong in their calculations, they can take their poker to another level by trying out its variants.

The No Limit Texas Hold’em poker is the most popular of all its variations. Yet, there are many others that one can try out for a different game experience.

Texas Hold’em

The most popular poker variant, it is the most commonly played. It is relatively easy to learn and play. You will be able to find many online casinos where this version of the game is most offered.

There are many guides and informational sources on the game. This version of poker was popularised around 15 years ago, thus, it has been the most discussed, played and enjoyed.

This also means that you will find many ace players in this version of poker.

The game has two hole cards dealt to each of the players. It starts from the left side player of the dealer and goes in a clockwise direction. Once this round happens, in which the players call, raise or fold, you move on to the flop. The flop reveals the three community cards.

Omaha Hi-Lo

This poker variant is not as popular as Omaha Hi or Texas Hold’em. This poker variation is also known as Omaha 8-or-Better.

The pot is divided equally between the highest 5-card poker hand and the lowest one. There are certain conditions that have to be fulfilled for the lower half of the pot to be one.

The condition is that all the 5 cards of the low hand must have 8 or lower value cards. The straight or flush does not work against a hand in this variant. The lowest hand is to be recognised by the 5 cards being in reverse sequence from high to low value—for example, 5, 4, 3, 2, Ace.

This variant is more difficult to understand than the other ones because you have to think about both the high and low hands. The gameplay is similar to the Texas Hold’em one. In the end, if there is no qualifying low hand, the entire pot goes to the highest best hand.

Omaha Hi

This version is 2nd to Texas Hold’em in popularity. This is also called the Pot Limit Omaha. This is played exactly like the Texas Hold’em but 4 hole cards are dealt instead of 2 in the pre-flop round. You have to use at least 2 of your 4 hole cards and 3 of the 5 community cards to make your best hand.

The ease of the game is more than that of Texas Hold’em because the players are dealt more cards in the beginning. The sizes of bets and raises are capped at the size of the pot.

7 Card Stud

In this version of the game, all players must place an ante. Each player after this is dealt two hole cards and one face-up card. The player with the lowest face-up card must go first to act.

This variant is relatively easier to play. Strategically it is a little difficult since all players have some cards face-up that are shown to the other players. After the first round of betting, a face-up card is dealt to the remaining players. The player with the highest value of the face-up card acts first.

In the next rounds, yet more face-up cards are dealt to the remaining players. The player with the highest combined value of all his face-up cards acts first. Finally, the player with the best hand wins.

These are only some of the poker variants. There are certainly a few more out there. You have the choice to pick the option that excites you the most.

So keep playing and be thrilled!
