Roll the Dice: An Easy Guide to Understand the Craps Table

Craps is one of the most played online and offline casino games in the world. It is quite popular among casino goers and doesn’t fail to impress new explorers. Since craps has one of the lowest house edges, it is quite liked by casino game players.

Although craps is a game of pure chance, interestingly, many players associate a number of superstitions with it. Some like to blow on the dice before rolling them while others avoid betting on certain numbers!

Craps, therefore, is not only a game of luck and money, it is a game of camaraderie and socialisation.

The rules of craps might be one thing to explore, whereas the craps table is an enigma that entices many. In this blog, we will explore the craps table in-depth to understand the game better.

Before we dive into the table exploration, we will go over the basics of craps. The basic rules of the game of craps are quite simple to understand and interesting to follow.

Craps Rules The Basics

In the game of craps, the shooter is the main player who starts the game by rolling the dice. The other players bet on the outcome of the roll. This first roll of dice is called the Come Out Roll.

There are certain bets in craps that players can place according to the anticipated outcomes.

Pass Line Bet in Craps

In this bet, the player wagers on the outcome that the shooter will get a 7 or 11. In this case, the player wins. If 2, 3, or 12 come, the player loses. Additionally, if 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 come, it is considered as a Point.

In case, the shooter hits a Point, he has to get the same Point again (the same number) in order to win. If the shooter gets a 7 before hitting the Point again, the player loses.

Don’t Pass Line Bet in Craps

In this bet, the player bets that the shooter will get a 2 or 3. If the shooter gets a 12, it is considered as a push. If any other number comes, the shooter has to get a 7 before hitting the Point again.

Come Bet in Craps

It is the same as the Pass Line bet.

Don’t Come Bet in Craps

It is the same as the Don’t Pass Line bet.

Both the above-mentioned (3 and 4) bets are considered to be a game within a game.

These are the basic bets in the game of craps.

The Craps Table: The Centre of All the Action

A craps table is divided into multiple sections. These sections have their own place and own uniqueness and play a major role in the betting process of craps.

The Pass Line and Don’t Pass Bar in Craps

These are the two most important sections of the table. The two bets of the same name are placed in these sections.

If you want to place a Pass Line bet, you place it in the corresponding section and so on. The Pass Line section is spread across the two sides of the table whereas the Don’t Pass Bar is placed adjacent to the Pass Line sections in the table corners.

Big 6 and Big 8 in Craps

These sections are placed side by side in the corner adjacent to the Don’t Pass Bar. If you think that you will land a 6 or an 8 before rolling a 7, you should place your bet in these sections.

The house edge of the Big 6 and the Big 8 is quite high, so these bets are not so profitable in the long run.

Come and Don’t Come Bet

After the Come Out Roll and the Point have been established, the Come and Don’t Come bets are brought into play. If you think that you will get a 7 or 11 on your next roll of dice, place a bet on the Come section and if you feel that you will get 2, 3, or 12, place your bet on the Don’t Come section.

The Field

This section lies to the side of the Big 6 and 8 and above the Don’t Pass Bar. This section has the numbers 3, 4, 9, 10 and 11. Alongside, it also has 2 and 12. If you feel that the dice will roll to any of these numbers, you can place your bet here.

The Place

This section is located at the top of the table. If you think that you will land a number from 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 before landing a 7, you will place a bet ‘Place to Win’. If you think that you will land a 7 before landing any other number mentioned above, place a ‘Place to Lose’ bet.

The Center

This section is common to all in the game. You can place individual bets on specific patterns of the roll of the dice as given in the Center section.

So keep playing and keep rolling!
